Fancy joining a leading health and care system?
Join one of the most well regarded local health and care systems in England by making Blackpool and the Fylde coast the next step in your career.
The Blackpool and wider Fylde coast NHS is a forward thinking, trailblazing system which continually receives national recognition for its efforts to improve outcomes, advance experiences for staff and patients and deliver sustainable services.
As with many local health and care systems we are not without challenges, but some innovative and successful initiatives are making Blackpool and the Fylde coast the place-to-be.
Having been named, in 2015, as one of a select few ‘vanguard’ areas to progress the development of new care models, the Blackpool and the Fylde coast has been at the forefront of delivering the future vision for the NHS in England.
Now, with the freedom awarded to progress the development of an Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) the local system is building upon its strong history of collaboration between health and care partners to further its work for patients and staff.
These NHS partners include two clinical commissioning groups (the Blackpool and Fylde and Wyre CCGs) alongside Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
At the bedrock of the local system are 10 integrated neighbourhoods (six in the Blackpool area and four within Fylde and Wyre). These are clusters of GP practices working alongside community services within a geographical area, covering populations of between 20,000 and 50,000 patients. These are pivotal to Blackpool and the Fylde coast’s vision for out of hospital services which keep people well for longer.
Local community, acute and specialist services are provided by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Leading health economy
Health professionals in Blackpool and the Fylde coast can enjoy working with a health and care system that has placed itself at the heart of NHS innovation.
This has been achieved by working together with local partners from both the health and technology sectors, with the support of NHS England, to make changes that could affect healthcare on a national scale.
In partnership with local authorities the local NHS has secured more than £10million of NHS England investment to revolutionise the way those patients most at risk of accessing emergency health services can be cared for at home and in the community. New care models are continuing to be developed at neighbourhood level that will not only improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most vulnerable people in the area but also ease the pressure on hospital and GP services.
